Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benito Madden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruno Tequilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tequilla throws a head kick but Madden moves out of range.
It looked like Madden was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tequilla.

Madden darts in and clinches Tequilla up against the cage.

Tequilla's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tequilla gets a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Tequilla thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Madden's head.

Madden kicks off Tequilla and gets to his feet.
Madden leaves Tequilla with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Madden counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tequilla takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Tequilla goes for a takedown attempt but Madden pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Benito Madden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Tequilla.
Madden buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Tequilla throws a left and a right that both miss
and Madden counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Bruno Tequilla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tequilla.
Madden is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Tequilla.

Madden misses with a few strikes there.
Tequilla tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Tequilla is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Madden gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Madden really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tequilla tries to pull guard but Madden won't allow it.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Tequilla.

Madden has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tequilla uses from the top position.

Tequilla ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Tequilla no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Madden has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Tequilla jumps guard and drags Madden to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Madden is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tequilla can do to turn this around?
Madden lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Madden is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Madden feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tequillas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Madden feints and then cracks Tequilla's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tequilla down.
Bruno Tequilla has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Benito Madden is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

and Madden counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tequilla won't be happy with that.
Tequilla wants to get back to his feet but Madden is dominant here and he's now got Tequilla's back!
