PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rufus Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lukas Heimdahl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heimdahl is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bodies - Drowning Pool. Rufus Warner has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rufus Warner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lukas Heimdahl!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heimdahl falls off balance throwing a combination
and Warner counters with a one-two to the body.

Heimdahl gets tackled into the cage by Warner. Warner maintains the clinch.
Warner jumps guard but Heimdahl stands there with Warner around his waist. Warner gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Heimdahl can't break the clinch.
Warner fails to pull the fight into his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Warner keeps control of Heimdahl as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Warner takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Warner tries to land knees in the clinch but Heimdahl avoids the damage to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Heimdahl has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Warner is trying to pull guard but Heimdahl has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rufus Warner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Warner jumps guard but Heimdahl turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Heimdahl is trying to trip Warner. He has hold of a leg but Warner is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Heimdahl persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Heimdahl trying to stand up but can't free himself from Warner's guard.

Heimdahl gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Warner.
Heimdahl is looking to regain half guard here but Warner keeps moving and retains side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Warner has control of an arm but Heimdahl manages to advance to Warner's back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Heimdahl gets back to his feet. Warner is certainly not going to complain about that decision.

Warner looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Heimdahl tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Warner manages to move to mount!
Heimdahl reaches up to try and control the position but Warner seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Heimdahl rolls and tries to escape and now Warner has his back!

Warner looking for the choke but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Heimdahl can't escape the position.
Heimdahl tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Warner throws some wild stikes that Heimdahl manages to avoid easily.
Heimdahl's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Heimdahl tries to reverse the position but Warner maintains control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Heimdahl is trying to reverse the position but instead Warner has taken his back - oops!
Warner doesn't have the hooks in and Heimdahl manages to turn into his guard.

Heimdahl gets to his feet. Warner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Heimdahl rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Warner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Warner tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Heimdahl manages to circle out of the way.
Heimdahl misses with a double jab.
Warner is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Heimdahl.

Warner gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Warner tries to pull guard but Heimdahl holds him up against the cage and eventually Warner drops back down to his feet.
Warner tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Heimdahl smiles and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lukas Heimdahl will probably get the nod.
That's time! Warner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Heimdahl throws a right and a left that Warner avoids nicely.
It looked like Warner was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
No luck for Warner with that takedown attempt.
Heimdahl tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Heimdahl lands with a cross.


It looks like Rufus Warner has been cut.
Heimdahl swinging wildly here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Heimdahl leaves Warner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Heimdahl misses with a low kick.
Heimdahl displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Warner.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rufus Warner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Heimdahl lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Warner circles away quickly and effectively.
Heimdahl throws a right hand that Warner ducks under and follows up with a left that Warner also avoids with ease.
Warner is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Heimdahl just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Warner has gone limp and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Lukas Heimdahl!
Lukas Heimdahl spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
