Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Les Figueroa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Insley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Les Figueroa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Insley!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Insley drives through with a takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Figueroa is on top in guard.


Insley has his foot on Figueroa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Figueroa works his way back into a safe position though.
Figueroa trying to control but Insley is working from the bottom.
Figueroa engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Figueroa seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Insley for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Figueroa would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Figueroa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Figueroa slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Insley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dave Insley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A low kick from Insley misses

and Figueroa counters with a nice double leg into side control. Insley won't be happy with that.
Figueroa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Insley keeps working.
Figueroa happy to just control the position for now.

Insley is not content to let Figueroa control the position.
Insley is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Figueroa is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Insley is just holding on here. Figueroa manages to take his back.
I would not like to be Insley right now.

Figueroa has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Insley defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Figueroa's arms.
Figueroa has the hooks in. Insley is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Figueroa has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Insley off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Insley clinches up with Figueroa and pushes him back against the cage.
Insley tries to break the clinch but Figueroa is controlling the position.

Figueroa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Insley smiles and moves away.

Insley closes the distance and pushes Figueroa back into the cage.

Figueroa goes for a takedown in the clinch but Insley prevents it.
Figueroa could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Figueroa tries to pull guard but Insley forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Les Figueroa. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Insley manages to break the clinch.
Insley lands with a kick to the temple. Figueroa shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Figueroa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Figueroa tries to work over Insley's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Insley gets control of Figueroa's arms and successfully pulls guard. Insley will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Figueroa gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Insley darts in and clinches Figueroa up against the cage.

Insley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Figueroa is working for takedown but Insley is calmly controlling the position for now.

Insley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Insley has managed to clinch.

Insley pulls guard successfully.

Figueroa wants to control from the top but Insley keeps moving.
Insley is trying to keep Figueroa in close.
Insley throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Insley looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Insley keeping moving, preventing Figueroa from controlling successfully.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Insley is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Figueroa is controlling him.
Figueroa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Insley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Les Figueroa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Figueroa trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Insley shoots for a double leg takedown but Figueroa sprawls well. He's pushed Insley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Insley.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Insley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Insley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Figueroa's waist but Figueroa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Insley off to one side.
No luck for Insley with that takedown attempt.
Figueroa changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Insley forces Figueroa back against the cage and clinches.
Figueroa has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Insley avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Insley is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Figueroa to keep the fight standing.
Les Figueroa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Insley.

Figueroa turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Figueroa manages to end up in side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Insley is looking to improve his position but Figueroa isn't that keen on the idea.
Figueroa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Insley is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Figueroa controlling the pace for now.
Insley is trying desperately to improve position.
Figueroa cracks Insley with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Figueroa trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Insley throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Insley avoids a series of strikes thrown by Figueroa.
Insley is looking to improve his position but Figueroa isn't that keen on the idea.
Insley is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Figueroa controlling his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Les Figueroa showed his dominance in that final round.
