The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gastelum lands with a shot to the body.
Gastelum throws a combination. Williams tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Lisa Williams has been cut.

Gastelum gets caught flat footed, as Williams shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Williams has Gastelum pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Williams pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gastelum tumbling to the mat - Williams dives into Gastelum's guard.
Williams seems to have got his legs back now.
Williams postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Williams wants to pass the guard but Gastelum is keeping the position.
Gastelum told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Williams shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Williams was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Williams thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gastelum is squirming around, avoiding Williams's attempts to control the action.

Williams goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gastelum rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Williams's guard! Nice work there by Gastelum!

Williams is looking to sweep but instead, Gastelum has passed into half guard.
Williams makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Williams.
Williams seems keen to control Gastelum's posture.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kelvin Gastelum seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Williams seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Gastelum shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Williams is backing up but Gastelum catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Williams covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Gastelum Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
