PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between AJ Zao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Bondurant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zao comes into the arena with It's raining men blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, AJ Zao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Forrest Bondurant!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bondurant rushes Zao and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Zao misses with a punch on the inside.
Zao throws a head punch that misses.
Zao throws a punch but it's blocked by Bondurant.
Bondurant drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Zao stalling the fight.
Bondurant blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Zao fails to land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zao pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Zao avoids the head kick by Bondurant.
Zao throws a head kick that misses.
Bondurant shapes to counter with a head kick.
Zao misses with a lunging right hand
and Bondurant counters with a nice uppercut.

It looks like AJ Zao has been cut.
Bondurant lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Bondurant scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zao walks straight into a right hand from Bondurant - that's dropped him! Bondurant jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Zao from any more punishment! Zao complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

After winning the bout, Forrest Bondurant thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
