Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fabian Blanchard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Middle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fabian Blanchard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Middle!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Middle looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Blanchard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blanchard is not content to let Middle control the position.
Blanchard is trying to control Middle's posture but Middle avoids it.
Middle cracks Blanchard with a big right hand but Blanchard just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Middle is looking to take a break and control but Blanchard is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blanchard is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Blanchard jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Middle walks away with a smile on his face. Blanchard gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Blanchard tries to keep at a distance but Middle has taken the fight into the clinch.
Blanchard jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Middle walks away with a smile on his face. Blanchard gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jack Middle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Middle throws a right hand that Blanchard ducks under and follows up with a left that Blanchard also avoids with ease.

Middle shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Blanchard keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Middle wants to work for an arm triangle but Blanchard is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Blanchard is looking to improve his position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Blanchard has his hands clasped together around Middle's back. He's all about the action.
Middle is looking to stall here but Blanchard recovers full guard.

Middle fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Blanchard to the ground. Middle is now in Blanchard's guard.
Blanchard is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Middle stands and steps away. Blanchard gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Middle drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Blanchard wriggles free and stands up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Blanchard wants the takedown. Middle is fighting it off but Blanchard persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Middle's guard against the cage.

Blanchard has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Middle is proving hard to escape from.
Blanchard stays in close to Middle's body and controls the position.

Blanchard gets to his feet. Middle looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Middle shoots in and bounces Blanchard off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Blanchard is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Middle dives into side control.
Middle is breathing heavily.

Blanchard is trying to get back to half guard.

Blanchard tries to buck Middle off but Middle is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Blanchard gets back to half guard.
Blanchard keeping hold of Middle's head, controlling as best he can.
Middle wants to take a breather but Blanchard is having none of it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Middle is stalling here. Blanchard is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Middle seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Blanchard has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Blanchard has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fabian Blanchard will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Blanchard lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Middle gets the takedown into side control.

Middle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Blanchard does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jack Middle has got the better of the ground game so far.
Blanchard makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Blanchard.

Middle keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Blanchard's head.

Middle wants to control from the top but Blanchard keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Blanchard uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Middle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Middle throws a head kick that Blanchard semi-blocks.

Blanchard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Middle's guard.
Blanchard slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Blanchard content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Blanchard postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Middle has momentary wrist control but Blanchard slips an elbow through the middle.
Blanchard controls from within his opponent's guard.
Blanchard working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Middle's head.
Blanchard is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Blanchard decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Middle, up you get!

Blanchard closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Middle did well to prevent Blanchard getting side control.

Blanchard perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Blanchard stands up and beckons Middle to join him on the feet.

Blanchard feints and as Middle raises his hands in defense, Blanchard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Blanchard gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Blanchard closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blanchard winds up and cracks Middle with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Middle is trying to maintain the position but Blanchard is very close to passing his half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fabian Blanchard showed his dominance in that final round.
