Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Tom Bowman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bowman counters with a left and a right that stings Diaz.
Diaz tests Bowman's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like Tom Bowman has been cut.

Bowman feints and as Diaz raises his hands in defense, Bowman changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Diaz looking for a guillotine here but Bowman defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bowman trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Bowman has gone for a leg lock! Diaz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bowman's guard.

Bowman trying to control the position.
Diaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Bowman is retaining full guard.
Diaz pushes down on Bowman's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bowman slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Bowman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Diaz wants to stand but Bowman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bowman looking for a sweep. Not yet Bowman, not yet.

Diaz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Bowman slips a jab from Diaz.
Bowman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diaz.
Diaz lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Bowman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bowman lands in his opponent's guard.
Bowman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Diaz's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bowman seems to be looking for submissions.
Bowman prevents Diaz from improving his position.
Bowman works his foot free and advances to mount.
Diaz can't escape the position.

Bowman working for a submission but Diaz is keeping him at bay.
Bowman prevents Diaz from getting the reversal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bowman has control of Diaz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Diaz regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Diaz keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Bowman scoring with strikes but Diaz is staying in there.


It looks like Nick Diaz has been cut.
Diaz regains half guard.
Bowman is trying to control the action in half guard but Diaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Bowman is working for a kimura but Diaz is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bowman seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bowman is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Diaz is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tom Bowman!
A relieved looking Tom Bowman thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
