Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luther Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Teeks Metrakos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luther Mason has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luther Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Teeks Metrakos!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mason takes the fight into the clinch.

Metrakos pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mason looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Metrakos is working for takedown but Mason is calmly controlling the position for now.
Metrakos drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mason pulls his leg out and moves away.
Metrakos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mason moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Mason tries to keep at a distance but Metrakos has taken the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason stops a takedown attempt from Metrakos.
Luther Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Teeks Metrakos.

Mason jumps guard but Metrakos stands there with Mason around his waist. Mason gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mason is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mason is controlling the pace.
Mason is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Mason prevents Metrakos from improving his position.
Mason lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mason lands a nice short elbow.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Metrakos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Metrakos avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Metrakos throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Mason counters with a nice uppercut.

A counter left hand to the body from Mason misses its target.

Mason has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Metrakos is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Mason wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Metrakos drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mason pulls his leg out and moves away.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mason has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Metrakos is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Metrakos is working for takedown but Mason is calmly controlling the position for now.
Mason drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Metrakos jumps guard but Mason stands there with Metrakos around his waist. Metrakos gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Mason tightens his grip and picks Metrakos up, before dumping him to the ground. Metrakos manages to land in guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mason has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's time! Mason's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Mason shoots in looking for a takedown but Metrakos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mason's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mason really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mason is pushing Metrakos up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Mason turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mason manages to end up in side control.
Metrakos sneaks back into half guard.
Mason not doing much here.
Metrakos tries to get to full guard but Mason has control of the leg.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Metrakos is trying to maintain the position but Mason is very close to passing his half guard.

Mason decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Luther Mason showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mason has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
