PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brett Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baby Squatch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baby Squatch will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brett Le!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Baby Squatch !
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Squatch checks a leg kick nicely.
Squatch darts in looking for a takedown but Le gets double underhooks and turns Squatch into the cage.
Le went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Le really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Squatch shoots in looking for a takedown. Le tries to sprawl out of it but Squatch keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Le manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Squatch misses with a low kick.
Squatch misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Le seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Squatch shoots in for a takedown but Le shows good takedown defense.
Le feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Brett Le has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Baby Squatch .
Squatch throws a nice looking combination but Le bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Squatch ducks right into an uppercut from Le.

Squatch clinches up against the cage.
Squatch jumps guard but Le stands there with Squatch around his waist. Squatch gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Le jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Squatch walks away with a smile on his face. Le gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Squatch shoots for a takedown but Le saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Le instigates a clinch.

Le has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Squatch uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Le looking to hit a scissor sweep but Squatch is one step ahead there.
Le wants to get back to his feet but Squatch is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Le looking for a guillotine here but Squatch defends easily.

Le bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Squatch 's guard.

Squatch trying to keep a closed guard but Le is proving a slippery customer.

Le throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Squatch looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Le has picked Squatch up and slammed him! Squatch can't keep hold of the triangle and Le manages to pass to side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Le gets to mount! Squatch was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Squatch tries to reverse the position but Le maintains control.
Squatch wants to hold on but Le pushes him away.
Squatch keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Le jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Squatch manages to avoid the submission attempt.
You can see the frustration on Squatch 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Squatch is trying to buck Le off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Le is putting a hurting on Squatch here, landing some big shots from side control.
Le cracks Squatch with a big right hand but Squatch just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Le thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Squatch is trying to control Le's posture but Le avoids it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Squatch manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brett Le dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Squatch has his takedown stuffed
and Le cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Le moves into the clinch.
Le has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Squatch after a bit of a struggle.

Le ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Le no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Squatch drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Le dives on top into guard.

Le lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Squatch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Brett Le overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Le missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Squatch is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Le presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Le works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Le is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Squatch can do to turn this around?
Le is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Squatch wants to control from the top but Le keeps moving.

Le working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Squatch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Squatch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Squatch gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Le.

Squatch has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Le uses from the top position.

Squatch shoots in looking for a takedown but Le manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Squatch 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Squatch dives in and grabs Le's left leg, looking for a takedown. Le pushes down on Squatch 's head and hops out.

Le jumps into guard, dragging Squatch to the mat.

Le tries to bench press Squatch off him but Squatch keeps the position.

Squatch stands up and beckons Le to his feet.
Baby Squatch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Squatch looks for a takedown but Le sprawls well.
Baby Squatch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Le gets caught flat footed, as Squatch shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Squatch stands up from Le's guard - Squatch perhaps looking for a knockout.

An inside leg kick lands from Le.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brett Le.
Well Le has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
