PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bryan Parker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leroy Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bryan Parker!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Head slips a jab and a cross from Parker.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Parker.

Parker has taken the fight to the clinch.

Parker ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Parker no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Parker trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Head stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Head throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Head throwing strikes but missing.
Parker keeping moving, preventing Head from controlling successfully.
Head sitting in guard here, content to control.
Head could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Parker preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Parker is trying to control the position but Head postures up.
Head in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Parker is on top in guard.

Head is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Head wants to get back to his feet but Parker is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Parker gets to his feet - Head follows without any prompting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Parker fakes the leg kick and cracks Head in the body.
Parker misses with a double jab

and Head counters by clinching up.
Parker wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Head has him pressed against the cage.
Parker is trying to pull guard but Head has him pressed against the cage.
Head throws an elbow that misses.
Head connects with a nasty looking knee right to Parker's face.
Head keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Parker's efforts to push away.
Head is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Parker to keep the fight standing.

Parker drags the fight down to the ground.
Head throwing strikes but missing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Head's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Head postures up in Parker's guard and throws a big left but Parker blocks it.
Head works over Parker with some ground and pound from guard.
Parker wants to get back to his feet but Head passes into half guard.
Parker wants to control but Head is keeping busy.
Parker gets back to full guard.
Head won't allow Parker to sweep him here.
Head scoring with punches to the head and body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Head accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Head landing with the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Head's guard.

Parker looks winded!
Head looking for a sweep. Not yet Head, not yet.
Parker won't allow Head to get back to his feet.
Parker is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bryan Parker will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Head shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Parker has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Head is on him like a limpet, forcing Parker back against the cage.
Parker wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Head has him pressed against the cage.

Parker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Head shoots in but Parker avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Parker now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parker throws a leg kick but Head checks it.

Parker clinches up with Head and pushes him back against the cage.
Head creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Head prevents a body shot from Parker.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Parker.
Parker blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Head throws a knee to the head but misses.
Head creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Parker's defenses.
Parker utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Parker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Parker misses with a few strikes there.
Parker misses with a straight right.

Parker closes the distance and pushes Head back into the cage.

Parker breaks from the clinch.
Parker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Parker clinches up against the cage.
Parker is pushing Head up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Head doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Parker prevents a takedown attempt there.
Parker is working for takedown but Head is calmly controlling the position for now.
Parker pushes Head back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Parker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Head throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Parker.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Head moves in looking to clinch but Parker pushes him off.
Bryan Parker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Parker misses with a wild combination.
Parker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Parker clinches.
Head swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Head with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Parker jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Head walks away with a smile on his face. Parker gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Leroy Head has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryan Parker.
Head shoots in but Parker avoids the takedown attempt easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Left hook, right uppercut from Parker.

Parker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Parker slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Parker lands a couple of digs.
Head keeping moving, preventing Parker from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryan Parker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Parker swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Head counters with a one-two to the body.

Head gets a double leg takedown into Parker's guard.
Parker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Parker. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Parker has his foot on Head's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Head works his way back into a safe position though.
Head throws a big elbow that misses.
Head trying to control the position from guard on top but Parker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Parker is on top in guard.

Head wants to stand and escape but Parker is having none of it.

Parker gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Parker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Parker moves into range and connects with a jab.
Leroy Head is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Head tries for a takedown but Parker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Parker throws a counter combo.
Parker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Head fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Parker avoids it really well and circles away.
Head tries to score a power double leg takedown but Parker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Head somewhat.
Parker is looking for the big counter here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leroy Head. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Parker gets a double leg takedown into Head's guard.
Parker won't allow Head to get back to his feet.
Parker sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Head wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Parker stays in close to Head's body and controls the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Head fails with the takedown.
Parker moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Bryan Parker is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Parker moves into the clinch.
Parker can't get the takedown.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Head keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Parker's efforts to push away.
Bryan Parker seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Head misses with a hook to the ribs.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bryan Parker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Parker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Bryan Parker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
