Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kosma Wawelski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Durk De Jong!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wawelski misses with a takedown attempt - De Jong sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Despite the aggression on De Jong's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Wawelski shoots in looking for a takedown but De Jong manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wawelski's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
De Jong pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Wawelski is looking for a counter combo.
Wawelski has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kosma Wawelski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wawelski shoots in but De Jong avoids the takedown attempt easily.

De Jong will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wawelski takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

De Jong throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
De Jong is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Wawelski looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Wawelski seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down De Jong for as long as he can get away with.

Wawelski not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Wawelski feints and as De Jong raises his hands in defense, Wawelski changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Wawelski postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! De Jong is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wawelski, into his guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Jong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wawelski works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

De Jong throwing strikes from guard but Wawelski blocks nicely.
De Jong looking to sit in guard and control but Wawelski gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wawelski is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
De Jong has a closed guard, preventing Wawelski from standing up.

Wawelski drops back, looking for a kneebar! De Jong looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. De Jong looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from De Jong!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wawelski shoots in for a double leg but De Jong sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

De Jong slaps away a takedown attempt from Wawelski, before circling back to the center of the mat.
De Jong comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Wawelski shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wawelski was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
De Jong wants to control but Wawelski postures up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wawelski looking to punish the body of his opponent here but De Jong is avoiding damage well.

Wawelski wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by De Jong, who protects the arm well.
Kosma Wawelski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wawelski working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. De Jong turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Wawelski off and cradles De Jong's limp body as Wawelski celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Kosma Wawelski!
