PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Big Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson has chosen Falling to Pieces as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Big Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Topper Green and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson tried to score with a low kick but Joe checks it.
Anderson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Eric Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Anderson throws a lazy body kick

and Joe counters with a shoot takedown. Anderson fights it but they end up in guard.
Joe lands a couple of elbows.

Anderson pushes Joe off and scrambles back to his feet.
Anderson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Joe drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Anderson is pulling down on Joe's head to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anderson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Joe seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've been hearing good reports from Joe's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Anderson keeping moving, preventing Joe from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Joe looking to pass the guard.
Joe scoring with some ground and pound.
Joe throwing strikes but missing.
Anderson wants to stand but Joe is controlling the position.

Anderson pushes Joe off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Anderson connects with a body shot that sends Joe's belly button to the back.
Anderson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Joe tries to counter by clinching up but Anderson breaks away and moves out of range.
Anderson with a nice cross.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Donk. Anderson catches Joe right on the button with a cross.
Joe connects with an inside leg kick.
Anderson looks to throw a body kick

and Joe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Joe.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Joe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Joe won't allow Anderson to get back to his feet.
Joe advances position into side control!

Joe is trying to get an arm triangle but Anderson is defending well.
Joe tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Anderson is looking to reverse the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Joe tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Joe trying to control the action but Anderson is working from the bottom.
Joe lands some shots froms side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Anderson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Joe controls his leg.

Anderson stands up and beckons Joe to join him on the feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Joe or perhaps it was just good defense by Anderson, which made it look bad.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Anderson throws a right and a left that Joe avoids nicely.
Joe connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Anderson instigates a clinch.
Anderson is pressed up against the cage. Joe has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Anderson down to the mat. Anderson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Joe is breathing heavily.

Anderson closes the distance and clinches.
Joe is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Big Joe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Anderson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Joe pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Anderson content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Joe keeps control of Anderson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Joe is working for takedown but Anderson is calmly controlling the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Anderson dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Anderson connects with a jab.
Joe wants to land a leg kick but Anderson is out of range.
Joe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Joe throws a leg kick that is checked
and Anderson counters with a stiff right hand.


Joe is rocked!
Anderson grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Joe takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Anderson cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Eric Anderson!
After the fight, Eric Anderson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
