Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pari Jakh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thon Maker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pari Jakh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thon Maker!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jakh fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jakh wants to clinch.
Maker lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
A good leg kick by Jakh.

Maker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Jakh misses with some strikes from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jakh is defending against the submission attempts here by Maker.
Jakh is trying to control but can't.

Maker wants to get back to his feet.

Maker is thwarting Jakh's attempts to control the position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jakh is looking for a sweep. Maker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Maker slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Maker wants to work for an arm triangle but Jakh is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Maker is working for a kimura but Jakh is defending it quite comfortably.

Maker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jakh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Maker uses his free foot to push down on Jakh's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jakh.

Maker is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Jakh has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Jakh!

Maker has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Jakh is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Jakh is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Jakh changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Maker fights it off and pushes away nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jakh enables Maker to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jakh manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jakh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maker is one step ahead there.
Maker content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Jakh seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jakh dives in and grabs Maker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maker pushes down on Jakh's head and hops out.

Jakh gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Maker to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Maker has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jakh is proving hard to escape from.

Maker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jakh's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jakh wants to get back to full guard.

Maker stalling.
Jakh on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Maker slips a nice elbow through Jakh's hands, connecting with Jakh's forehead.
Jakh wants to control but Maker is keeping busy.
Jakh is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Still in half guard, Maker seems content to control.
Maker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jakh keeps working.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Maker is looking to advance position but Jakh won't allow it.
Jakh has hold of Maker's hands but Maker slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Thon Maker has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jakh manages to get to full guard.
Maker passes into half guard.

Jakh is looking for a sweep. Maker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jakh is trying to stand back up but Maker is controlling him
Maker tries to pass to full mount but Jakh defends it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Maker is thwarting Jakh's attempts to control the position.
Maker is looking to advance position but Jakh won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jakh fails with a takedown attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jakh doesn't manage to clinch there - Maker circles away.

and Jakh counters with a big head kick but Maker shrugs it off.

Maker closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jakh to the mat! Jakh manages to get full guard.
Maker tries to free his leg and advance position but Jakh is retaining full guard.
Maker lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Maker controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Maker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Maker content to stall in guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thon Maker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Maker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jakh is not content to let Maker control the position.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Jakh is working to avoid the ground and pound but Maker connects with a decent elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maker connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jakh some visible discomfort.
Maker looks up at the clock and then as Jakh takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Maker smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Maker lands an elbow.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The referee asks Maker politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Maker prefers to stall for the moment though.
Maker landing strikes.
Maker trying to control the position but Jakh is working away.
Maker cracks Jakh with a big elbow.
Maker content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Jakh taking punishment in the form of punches.
Maker moves into full mount!
Maker controlling the pace for now.
Maker with the ground and pound from mount.
Maker with good strikes from the mount here!
Maker lands a heavy elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maker with shots to the head and body - Jakh looks very uncomfortable down there.


Jakh is rocked!


It looks like Pari Jakh has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jakh is looking to escape.
Maker controlling his opponent.
Maker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Maker moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jakh has worked his arm free - good work by Jakh!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Maker has control of an arm but Jakh manages to advance to Maker's back!
Maker wants to get back to his feet.

Maker is trying to shake Jakh off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Jakh won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Maker closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jakh quickly recovers to half guard.
Pari Jakh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Thon Maker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Maker not doing much here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Thon Maker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Maker winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
