PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phuc Bich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phuc Bich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bryan Paul!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bich tries to clinch up.
Bich tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Paul connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bich misses the shot to the body.
Paul scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Bich gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Paul tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bich just stands there and leans against the cage.
Paul jumps guard but Bich stands there with Paul around his waist. Paul gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Bich fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Paul has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Bich regains guard immediately.
Bich keeping moving, preventing Paul from controlling successfully.
Paul slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Paul trying to control the position from guard on top but Bich is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Paul is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Paul postures up and lands a big shot to Bich's brow.
Paul working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Paul trying to control but Bich is working from the bottom.
Bich on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bich tries to get out of the position.
Paul tries to free his leg and advance position but Bich is retaining full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bich is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Paul trying to control but Bich is working from the bottom.
Paul not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Paul's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bich fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Paul looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Paul lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Paul keeps the fight on the outside.
Bich is looking to clinch but Paul is avoiding it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Paul steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bich.
Bich wants to clinch.
Paul lands a slapping body shot.
Bich fails with an attempt to clinch.
Paul slips a straight right by Bich.
Paul throws a body punch but Bich moves out of range.
Paul ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Bich is looking to clinch.
Bich digs a good hook to Paul's body.
Paul avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bich takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Bich is looking to clinch.
Paul changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bich tries to avoid it but Paul manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bich to the ground. Bich escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bich looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Phuc Bich has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryan Paul.
Paul throws a hook but Bich blocks it.
Bich throws a lazy right hand but Paul sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bich throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A little jabbing left from Paul on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Bich throws a body punch but Paul moves out of range.
Paul scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Phuc Bich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice cross by Paul.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bich tries to clinch up.
Paul uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bich.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bich has Paul up against the cage in a clinch.
Paul tries to score a body lock takedown but Bich shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Bich gets underhooks to prevent Paul's takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryan Paul dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Paul tries a head kick but it misses.
Bryan Paul seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Bich wants to clinch up but Paul keeps it at a distance.

and Paul counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Paul tries to bum rush Bich with a series of wild strikes but Bich uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bich drives through and clinches with Paul against the cage.
Paul has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Paul tries to pull guard but Bich won't allow it.
Paul takes a shot to the head.

Bich swings wildly with an uppercut but Paul uses good head movement to avoid it.

Paul turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Paul manages to end up in side control.
Bich might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Paul tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Paul wants to control but Bich is keeping him busy.
Paul lands some shots froms side control.

Paul looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Paul tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Paul has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Paul wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bich, who protects the arm well.

Paul is looking to take a break and control but Bich is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Paul has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Paul prevents Bich from improving his position.
Paul moves into full mount! Bich won't be happy about that!
Bich is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Paul with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Bryan Paul showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

It looks like Bryan Paul has been cut.

Bich tries to throw a body punch but Paul avoids it by throwing Bich back against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Paul has Bich pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bich manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Bich cracks Paul with a nice body shot.
Bich tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Bich misses with a punch on the inside.

Paul changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bich fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bich looks to land a combination but Paul avoids it well.

Bich goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Bich throws a punch but it's blocked by Paul.

Bich lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Paul backwards.
Bich lands a body punch.
Bryan Paul is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Bich tries to work over Paul's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Bich is pushing Paul up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Bich lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Bich working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Bich goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

And that's the end of the fight!
Phuc Bich showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Paul has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
