Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dean Smith!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith looks to land a right hand but Mann moved out of range.
Smith throws the left hand but Mann avoids the punch easily.
Sloppy strikes from Mann. Those never looked like landing.
Smith takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Mann swings widly with a right hand
and Smith counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Smith has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Mann throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith.

Smith throws a hook to the side of Mann's head but Mann sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Carter Mann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith clinches up with Mann and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith prevents a takedown attempt there.
We've been hearing reports that Mann has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Smith is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mann can't fight it off and eventually Smith manages to take the fight to the floor. Mann looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mann is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Smith dives into side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smith's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith misses with some ground and pound and Mann recovers position to half guard.

Let's hope that Smith has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Smith is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

and Smith counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mann thinking.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It looks like Carter Mann has been cut.

and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Smith lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mann will feel that in the morning.

Mann's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Mann duly obliges.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith is trying to trip Mann. He has hold of a leg but Mann is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Smith persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mann wants to stand and escape but Smith is having none of it.

That's time! Mann's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

It looked like Mann was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Smith seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Smith.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
