PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buck Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Bosron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buck Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Bosron!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Bosron.
Bosron is looking to score with low kicks.
Bosron swinging wildly here.

Bosron scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Grant is looking to reverse the position.
Bosron throws an elbow but Grant slips to the side and avoids it well.
Grant tries to improve position but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grant is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bosron asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grant tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bosron wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grant sneaks back into half guard.
Bosron looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Grant is refusing to be controlled, as Bosron sits in half guard.
Bosron throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Grant could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bosron takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Grant keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Bosron content to control rather than advance.
Bosron looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Bosron is trying to control the action in half guard but Grant is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bosron missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Nice strikes from Bosron there.

Grant manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Bosron keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Grant misses with some punches.
Bosron tries to break free but Grant pushes him back against the cage.

Grant pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Bosron lands a left and a right that send Grant crashing to the mat, dazed. Bosron thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Buck Grant has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bosron swinging wildly here.
Bosron fails with an attempt to clinch.
As Bosron looks to move away, Grant throws a big counter combo but Bosron just gets out of the way.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bosron lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Grant circles away quickly and effectively.
Grant tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Bosron manages to circle out of the way.
Bosron rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Grant moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Bosron shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bosron showed some decent athleticism there.
Bosron misses with a head shot. Grant uses the momentum to regain guard.
Bosron must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bosron trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bosron loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Grant is breathing heavily.
Grant working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bosron.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bosron throws a strike but Grant rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Grant wants to control from the top but Bosron keeps moving.
Bosron looking for a sweep. Not yet Bosron, not yet.

Bosron has his foot on Grant's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grant works his way back into a safe position though.
Bosron wants to stand and escape but Grant is having none of it.
Grant preventing the sweep.
Bosron pulls Grant in close to his closed guard and prevents Grant from doing any damage or advancing position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Bosron dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Buck Grant's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bosron throws a low kick but it's checked well by Grant.

Bosron closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bosron lands in his opponent's guard.
Bosron not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bosron accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bosron got a little sloppy there for a moment and Grant has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bosron has managed to get both his arms back between Grant's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bosron lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Bosron trying to control the position from guard on top but Grant is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bosron not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Bosron scoring with punches to the head and body.


Buck Grant's cut is getting worse.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bosron trying to control the position from guard on top but Grant is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bosron is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Bosron trying to control but Grant is working from the bottom.
Bosron postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.


Grant is rocked!
Bosron cracks Grant with a solid left hand.
Oh Grant is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bosron loads up on a big left hand. Grant felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Bosron looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Grant can't hide his disappointment, as Bosron celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tim Bosron!
Tim Bosron very nearly forgot to thank Amped Performance amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
