PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldo comes into the arena with Moment for Life blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shawn Jordan!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Topper Green and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jordan misses with an attempted mid kick.

Aldo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jordan, pushing him back against the cage.
I was talking to Aldo's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Jordan looking for a takedown.
Aldo digs a right hand into Jordan's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Jordan's gas tank.
Aldo swings wildly with an uppercut but Jordan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Aldo lands a hook that snaps the head of Jordan backwards.
Jordan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Aldo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Aldo tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Jordan tries to pull guard but Aldo forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn Jordan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aldo pushes Jordan back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jordan has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Jordan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Aldo fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Aldo has Jordan pressed against the cage, preventing Jordan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Aldo pushes Jordan against the cage. Aldo is working some dirty boxing. Aldo pushes off with a quick right hook! Jordan goes down! Jordan tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Aldo moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

After the fight, Jose Aldo was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
