PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Burt Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emelianenko has chosen Johny Cash as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Burt Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko shoots in looking for a takedown. Riggs tries to sprawl out of it but Emelianenko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Riggs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Riggs shoots for a double leg takedown but Emelianenko sprawls well. He's pushed Riggs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Emelianenko throws out a counter right but Riggs avoids it with no problem.

Emelianenko shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Emelianenko is working for a kimura but Riggs is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Emelianenko lands a nice short elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Emelianenko wants to work for an arm triangle but Riggs is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Riggs is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Emelianenko pulls his head out easily.
Emelianenko keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Emelianenko is thwarting Riggs's attempts to control the position.
Emelianenko looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Emelianenko in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Riggs tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Emelianenko!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Fedor Emelianenko!
