Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Nathaniel Sloan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hannah Hawk!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawk moves into the clinch.
Sloan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Sloan fails to pull guard.
Sloan stops a takedown attempt from Hawk.

Sloan tries for a takedown but Hawk manages to get underhooks.
Sloan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hawk avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Sloan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hawk throws an elbow that misses. Sloan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hawk's guard. Nice move by Sloan!


Sloan has gone for a leg lock! Hawk slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sloan's guard.

Sloan looking for a guillotine here but Hawk defends easily.

Sloan working for a triangle but Hawk defends it easily.
Hawk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

It looks like Nathaniel Sloan has been cut.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Sloan.

Hawk has closed the distance and engaged Sloan in a clinch.
Sloan blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Sloan is working for takedown but Hawk is calmly controlling the position for now.
Hawk misses with an elbow strike.
Hawk tries to circle away but Sloan has him pinned against the cage.

Hawk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sloan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hawk tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sloan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sloan throws a quick counter kick to the body but Hawk avoids it.
Sloan circles away from the clinch attempt
and Sloan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Sloan tries to keep at a distance but Hawk has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hawk breaks the clinch.
Hawk throws a sloppy head kick and Sloan moves out of range easily.

Hawk has managed to clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sloan tries for a takedown. No joy.

Sloan pulls Hawk into guard.
Hawk trying to control the position from guard on top but Sloan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hannah Hawk dominated that round.

Sloan tries to land a body kick
and Sloan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hawk throws a combination. Sloan tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Hannah Hawk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hawk tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sloan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hawk misses with a head kick.
Hawk slips a straight right by Sloan.
Nice shot lands for Hawk.
Hawk looks for a takedown but Sloan sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hawk walks into a left hand.

Hawk closes the distance and clinches.

Sloan gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Sloan gets to his feet. Hawk looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Sloan stuffs the takedown.

Hawk forces Sloan back against the cage and clinches.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Hawk is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Sloan slows down the pace here.
Hawk has had enough of the clinch but Sloan keeps him there for the moment.

Sloan is stalling here.

Hawk jumps guard and drags Sloan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Sloan gets to his feet. Hawk looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Sloan has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Sloan is trying to pull guard but Hawk turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Hawk wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Sloan is looking for a takedown.
Hawk has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Sloan pulls Hawk into guard.

Hawk trying to control but Sloan is working from the bottom.
Sloan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hawk is one step ahead there.

Sloan has his foot on Hawk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hawk works his way back into a safe position though.

Sloan controls Hawk momentarily but Hawk frees himself.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sloan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sloan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hawk working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Sloan pushes a forearm under Hawk's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hawk is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nathaniel Sloan!
Hannah Hawk spoke after the fight, saying '...and now we got bad blood...'.
