Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alex Coxall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barack Obama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barack Obama has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Coxall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barack Obama!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obama with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Coxall takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A jab from Coxall finds it's way through Obama's defenses.
Coxall throws a front kick aimed at Obama's knee but Obama avoids it well.
Nice sprawl there from Coxall as Obama shoots in.
Coxall stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Coxall wants it to stay on the feet.

Obama shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Coxall seems keen to control Obama's posture.
Obama looking to pass the guard.

Coxall looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Obama is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Coxall is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Coxall has escaped and now he's on top!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Coxall got a little sloppy there for a moment and Obama has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coxall has managed to get both his arms back between Obama's legs - danger averted.

Coxall pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Obama is keeping the position for now.
Obama is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Obama trying to control from half guard but Coxall is working away.
Obama is taking a breather. Coxall says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Coxall is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Outer Heaven Dojo, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Obama uses his free foot to push down on Coxall's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Coxall.
Obama wants to take Coxall's back here but Coxall is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Obama goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Coxall is on top in guard.
Obama is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Obama escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Coxall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Coxall trying to control the position from guard on top but Obama is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Obama is looking for a triangle here but Coxall uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Obama sneaks back into half guard.
Obama tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Coxall has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Obama can't escape the position.
Coxall thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Coxall misses with a head shot.
Coxall wants to control the pace but Obama is squirming around nicely.
Obama is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Obama gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Barack Obama will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Obama throws a right hand that Coxall ducks under and follows up with a left that Coxall also avoids with ease.
Obama will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Good leg kick by Coxall there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Obama misses the jab.
Coxall tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Coxall scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
A solid leg kick lands there for Coxall.
Coxall throws a body shot but no joy.
Obama missing with a left hand there. Coxall was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A clash of legs there as Obama blocks the low kick.
Sloppy strikes from Obama. Those never looked like landing.
Coxall takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Coxall swats away the attempt to clinch by Obama.
Obama dives in and grabs Coxall's left leg, looking for a takedown. Coxall pushes down on Obama's head and hops out.

A telegraphed right hand from Coxall misses the target.
Obama pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Barack Obama seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Coxall throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Coxall misses with a leg kick.
Coxall misses with a wild body shot.
And Obama tries to counter it with a takedown but Coxall pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Coxall connects with a body shot that sends Obama's belly button to the back.
Obama looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Obama has taken the fight to the clinch.
Obama is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Coxall pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Coxall misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Obama tries for a takedown but Coxall manages to get underhooks.
Alex Coxall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barack Obama.
Coxall misses with a punch to the body.
Obama lands a right hand.
Coxall is trying to force a seperation but Obama has the dominant position.
Coxall misses with a hook to the ribs.
Obama tries to pull guard but Coxall won't allow it.
Coxall lands a shoulder strike.

Coxall misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Coxall makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Obama throws a punch but it's blocked by Coxall.
Coxall tries a body shot but Obama blocks it.
Coxall tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Obama's elbow.
The referee is keeping an eye on Coxall - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Coxall lands a nice uppercut.
Obama misses with a punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Obama fails to land.
Obama lands a left hand.

Obama is trying to trip Coxall. He has hold of a leg but Coxall is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Obama persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Coxall not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barack Obama has got the better of the ground game so far.

Obama is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Coxall is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Obama tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Obama has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Coxall tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Obama is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Coxall has escaped the position, nice work there.
You can see the frustration on Coxall's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Barack Obama will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Obama throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Coxall tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Obama is in Coxall's guard.

Obama moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Coxall has worked his arm free - good work by Coxall!

Coxall wants to improve his position but Obama is controlling well.
Obama is looking to advance position but Coxall won't allow it.
Alex Coxall has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Obama is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Coxall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Obama tries to free his leg and advance position but Coxall is retaining full guard.
Obama is pushing down on Coxall's leg trying to pass to half guard. Coxall is fighting to maintain full guard but Obama has managed to sneak the leg through.

Obama is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Coxall still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Coxall has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Coxall stands up.

Coxall slips a jab and a cross from Obama.
Nice shot lands for Obama.
Obama bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Obama misses with a right hand
and Coxall counters with a two punch combo.
Obama wants to clinch but Coxall slips to the side
and Coxall counters with a leg kick.
Coxall throws a head kick that misses.
Coxall circles away from the clinch attempt.
Obama shoots in looking for a takedown. Coxall tries to sprawl out of it but Obama keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coxall manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Coxall throws a lazy right hand but Obama sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Obama dives in for a single leg takedown but Coxall sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Obama shoots in for a takedown but Coxall shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Alex Coxall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barack Obama.
Obama takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Obama looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Obama just misses with a punch to the body.
