The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skinner throws a body punch but Velasquez moves out of range.
Velasquez throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Skinner shapes to counter with a head kick.
Velasquez bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Skinner's head backwards.
Skinner swings for the body but Velasquez moves out of range.
Skinner displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

It looks like Fabricio Velasquez has been cut.
Velasquez looks to land a right hand but Skinner moved out of range.
Skinner let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Skinner lands a nice leg kick that just misses Velasquez's sensitive parts.

Velasquez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

enabling Velasquez to counter with a crisp jab.
Skinner lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Skinner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Velasquez moves away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Velasquez takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Skinner sizes up Velasquez with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Fabricio Velasquez spoke after the fight, saying 'My camp trained hard, but the better fighter won on the day. I won't let it keep me down. I'll be back, training, at the first chance I get.'.
