Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinnie Paz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vinnie Paz has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Curtis Guerrero's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Curtis Guerrero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vinnie Paz!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paz throws a nice looking combination but Guerrero bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Paz moves into the clinch successfully.

Paz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Paz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A left and a right from Paz both land. Nice combination.

Guerrero closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Paz's guard.
Paz is looking to stand back up but Guerrero counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Paz.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Guerrero winds up and cracks Paz with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Guerrero scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Guerrero seems to be working for a kimura but Paz defends the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Paz is trying to stand up here but Guerrero is controlling him well.
Paz is trying to maintain the position but Guerrero is very close to passing his half guard.
Guerrero is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Paz pushes Guerrero off looking to stand but Guerrero dives back in and keeps control.
Guerrero not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Guerrero lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Guerrero is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Guerrero seems to be looking for submissions.
Guerrero takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Paz trying to hold on to Guerrero's head to control him but Guerrero postures up.

Guerrero is working for a submission of some sort.

Paz is defending against the submission attempts here by Guerrero.

Guerrero wants to work for an arm triangle but Paz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Guerrero looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Paz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guerrero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Guerrero is looking for a kimura but Paz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Guerrero to get the leverage.
Paz wants to control but Guerrero is keeping busy.

Guerrero is trying to work for a kimura but Paz is defending well.

Guerrero seems to be working for a kimura but Paz defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Guerrero tries to stand but can't do so whilst Paz controls his leg.
Paz wants to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Paz moves into the clinch.
Paz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Paz pulls guard successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Guerrero loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Guerrero content to stall in guard here.

Guerrero stands up from Paz's guard - Guerrero perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Curtis Guerrero will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Nice sprawl there from Guerrero as Paz shoots in.

Paz has Guerrero up against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Paz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Guerrero gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Paz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Guerrero wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Curtis Guerrero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vinnie Paz.
Paz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Guerrero's waist but Guerrero gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Paz off to one side.
Guerrero is looking for a counter combo.

Guerrero gets a double leg takedown into Paz's guard.
Paz is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Guerrero dives into side control.
Paz is breathing heavily.


Guerrero stands up.
Paz looks for a takedown but Guerrero sprawls well.
Paz throws a lazy head kick

and Guerrero moves into the clinch.

Guerrero pulls guard successfully.
Guerrero lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Guerrero postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Guerrero working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Guerrero's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Guerrero works over Paz with some ground and pound from guard.

Guerrero gets to his feet. Paz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Guerrero closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Guerrero lands in his opponent's guard.
Guerrero is standing up over Paz. Paz looks to escape but Guerrero dives into side control.

Guerrero cracks Paz with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Guerrero is working to tighten his grip on Paz's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Paz has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Guerrero is really squeezing tight and eventually Paz passes out! Guerrero breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
