Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thiago Cavalcanti Azevedo!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azevedo gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
San Diego throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Azevedo on the side of the head.

Azevedo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in San Diego's half guard.
San Diego is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Azevedo is trying to control the action in half guard but San Diego is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
San Diego knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Azevedo on the ground.
Azevedo is pressing down on San Diego's thigh, looking to free his foot. San Diego is holding on for now.
San Diego controlling the position for now.
Azevedo is thwarting San Diego's attempts to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Still in half guard, Azevedo seems content to control.
Azevedo's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
San Diego has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Azevedo is working away from the top position though.

Azevedo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and San Diego defends it well.
Azevedo moves nicely into side control.

Azevedo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
San Diego can't do much from the bottom here.

Azevedo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by San Diego, who protects the arm well.
San Diego wants to control but Azevedo postures up.
San Diego isn't going anywhere.
You can see the frustration on San Diego's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
San Diego is looking for a sweep.

San Diego is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Azevedo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
San Diego is not content to let Azevedo control the position.
San Diego on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if San Diego tries to get out of the position.
San Diego tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Azevedo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
San Diego has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
San Diego is trying to control Azevedo's posture but Azevedo avoids it.

Azevedo is trying to get an arm triangle but San Diego is defending well.

Azevedo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Azevedo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Azevedo has an Americana. San Diego didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Azevedo is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Azevedo hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
