PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ackroyd Bloggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mehdi Rouhani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bloggs gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rouhani has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bloggs avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Bloggs leaning against his opponent.
Bloggs wants to get back to striking at distance but Rouhani won't allow it.
Rouhani is trying to maintain a safe position but Bloggs gets an underhook and turns Rouhani into the cage.
Bloggs goes for a takedown attempt but Rouhani pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Rouhani closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bloggs throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Bloggs had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rouhani defends it easily.

Rouhani postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bloggs is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rouhani, into his guard.

Rouhani can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bloggs controls the pace.

Bloggs ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bloggs no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Bloggs has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rouhani off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Bloggs connects with the punch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rouhani dives in and grabs Bloggs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bloggs pushes down on Rouhani's head and hops out.

Rouhani tries to keep at a distance but Bloggs has taken the fight into the clinch.
Bloggs is leaning against Rouhani and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Rouhani wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bloggs has him pressed against the cage.
Rouhani has Bloggs pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bloggs manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Rouhani really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bloggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bloggs seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rouhani for as long as he can get away with.
