Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Luigi Pennington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bradders Crooks!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crooks lands a big head kick that sends Pennington tumbling to the mat! Crooks takes a step backwards and waves Pennington back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Luigi Pennington has been cut.

Crooks takes the fight into the clinch.

Crooks drags the fight down to the ground.
Crooks tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pennington scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pennington would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Crooks has his hands on Pennington's head, controlling the position.

Pennington prevents Crooks from getting back to his feet.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pennington misses with a low kick.
Pennington looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Crooks is fending him off so far but Pennington persists. Nope, Crooks circles away and we're back to standing.
Crooks is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Crooks fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pennington avoids it really well and circles away.
It looked like Pennington was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Crooks.
Crooks fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Crooks shoots in looking for a takedown. Pennington tries to sprawl out of it but Crooks keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pennington manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Luigi Pennington has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bradders Crooks.
Crooks shoots in but no luck this time.

Crooks closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pennington makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Crooks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Pennington avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Crooks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crooks advances nicely into full mount.
Pennington is trying desperately to improve position.
Crooks tries to control but Pennington wriggling away.

Crooks has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Crooks is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
The fight stays on the outside here - Crooks looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Pennington decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Crooks's guard.
Crooks doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The cut man is working on Luigi Pennington's cut.
That's time! Pennington's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Pennington gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Crooks slips nicely into half guard.

Pennington looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Crooks is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Pennington still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Pennington has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Pennington might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Pennington wants to control from the top but Crooks keeps moving.
Pennington working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Crooks's head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Crooks trying to keep a closed guard but Pennington is proving a slippery customer.
Pennington could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Crooks wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Crooks is trying to hold Pennington in close to prevent damage but Pennington has managed to pass into half guard.
Pennington thows a huge punch but Crooks dodges it nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pennington throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Pennington works over Crooks's head and body with a nice combination.
Crooks fails in his attempt to clinch.
Crooks misses with a two punch combination.
Pennington attempts a counter takedown but Crooks avoids it well and moves away.

Crooks darts in and clinches Pennington up against the cage.
Pennington is looking to break free of the clinch but Crooks has double underhooks.
Pennington is pushing Crooks up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Crooks wants a takedown but no success here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A frustrated look appears on Pennington's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Pennington prevents a body shot from Crooks.
Pennington goes for a takedown in the clinch but Crooks prevents it.
Pennington is looking to take this one to the mat.

Crooks jumps guard and drags Pennington to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Crooks is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Crooks is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pennington defends well.
Crooks manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pennington manages to get himself to full guard.

Crooks wants to pass the guard but Pennington is keeping the position.
Crooks works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Crooks content to control rather than advance.

Crooks stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Pennington to get to his feet.
Bradders Crooks seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Crooks stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luigi Pennington. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Crooks fails to land with a series of punches.
Pennington throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Crooks's waist but Crooks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pennington off to one side.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Crooks is controlling the pace.
Crooks wants to take a breather but Pennington is having none of it.

Crooks winds up and cracks Pennington with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Crooks is trying to control the action in half guard but Pennington is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Crooks looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Pennington is refusing to be controlled, as Crooks sits in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bradders Crooks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Crooks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
