The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon slips a jab and a cross from Shook.

Gordon closes the distance and clinches.

Shook's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Shook misses with a few strikes there.
Gordon works Shook's body with a nice hook.
No joy there for Shook, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Shook gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gordon makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Shook is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Gordon engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gordon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Shook really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gordon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gordon wants to stand but Shook has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Gordon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Shook manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Nice combo by Shook! Oh, that's hurt him - Gordon falls to the canvas and Shook follows him into side control.
