Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alfonzo Acosta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sebastian Pocic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alfonzo Acosta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sebastian Pocic!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pocic closes the distance and clinches.
Pocic lands an uppercut.
Acosta is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pocic to keep the fight standing.
Acosta jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pocic walks away with a smile on his face. Acosta gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Acosta takes one to the chin there.
Pocic dodges the punch combination from Acosta.
Acosta misses with a shot to the body
and Pocic counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Alfonzo Acosta has been cut.

Pocic has Acosta up against the cage in a clinch.
Pocic throws a knee to the head but misses.
Pocic tries to pull guard but Acosta won't allow it.

Acosta decides to pull guard.
Pocic engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like Pocic might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pocic's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Acosta not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Acosta trying to strike off his back.
Acosta striking off his back but it's not causing Pocic any problems.
Acosta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pocic is one step ahead there.
Acosta doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Pocic clinches up against the cage.
Acosta really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pocic misses with a knee strike.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A short body shot lands from Pocic as the two fighters clinch.
Acosta tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alfonzo Acosta. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Acosta stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Acosta wants it to stay on the feet.
Pocic slips a jab and a cross from Acosta.
Pocic throws a counter combo.
Pocic takes a kick to the side of the head.
Acosta looks to score with a jab to the body but Pocic is just out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Acosta as Pocic shoots in.

Acosta moves into the clinch.
Pocic is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Pocic pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pocic has a closed guard, preventing Acosta from standing up.

Acosta stands and steps away. Pocic gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Pocic tries a head kick but it misses.
Acosta appears to be looking for a big counter.
Pocic fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Acosta throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Pocic clinches up against the cage.
Acosta stops a takedown attempt from Pocic.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Acosta has picked Pocic up - he's going for a ride! Acosta dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Pocic manages to escape and get back to his feet!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Pocic moves into the clinch successfully.
Pocic drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pocic wants a takedown but no success here.
Pocic looks winded!

Pocic jumps guard and drags Acosta to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Acosta throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Acosta tries to stand but Pocic is controlling from the bottom.
Acosta has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pocic is trying to keep Acosta in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sebastian Pocic dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Alfonzo Acosta's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Acosta leaves Pocic with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Acosta misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pocic.
Pocic doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Acosta throws a body punch but Pocic moves out of range.
Pocic throws a counter combo.
Pocic looks for a takedown but Acosta sprawls well.
A quick step to the side and Acosta tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Pocic closes the distance and clinches.
Acosta has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Acosta fails to pull guard.

Acosta manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Acosta is pulling down on Pocic's head. It's preventing any offense from Pocic, at least for the moment.
Acosta will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pocic looking to pass the guard.

Pocic trying to control the position from guard on top but Acosta is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Acosta is on top in guard.

Pocic is trying to keep Acosta in close.
Acosta is looking to work some ground and pound but Pocic has wrist control.
Pocic wants to hit a switch here but Acosta passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Pocic there!
Acosta wants to control the pace but Pocic is squirming around nicely.

Acosta looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Acosta looking for a guillotine from mount but Pocic is having none of it.
Acosta cracks Pocic with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Pocic tries to lock up and control but Acosta gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Acosta scoring with strikes but Pocic is staying in there.
Pocic tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Acosta with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Acosta throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Acosta get's back to his feet.
Pocic shoots in looking for a takedown but Acosta manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pocic's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
It looked like Acosta was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Alfonzo Acosta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sebastian Pocic.

Pocic is breathing heavily.

Pocic moves into the clinch.
Pocic tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Acosta avoids it.
Acosta is trying to pull guard but Pocic has him pressed against the cage.

Acosta keeping moving, preventing Pocic from controlling successfully.
Acosta working a defensive guard here.
Pocic won't allow Acosta to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Acosta is looking to cinch up a triangle. Pocic throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Acosta's body to avoid the submission. Acosta has instead reached around Pocic's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Acosta arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Alfonzo Acosta!
