PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Graig Prince (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Graig Prince!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mick Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Francis DeMontford and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor closes the distance and clinches.
Taylor has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Prince after a bit of a struggle.
Taylor tries to break the clinch but Prince is controlling the position.
Prince tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Taylor pulls guard successfully.
Prince could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Prince stopping the sweep attempt from Taylor.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Prince accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Prince postures up.
Taylor wants to sweep here but Prince controlling him for the moment.
Prince landing some decent shots from guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Prince is looking to work some ground and pound but Taylor has wrist control.

Taylor looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Prince has picked Taylor up and slammed him! Taylor can't keep hold of the triangle and Prince manages to pass to side control!

Prince cracks Taylor with a big right hand but Taylor just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Prince is trying to get an arm triangle but Taylor is defending well.

Prince is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Taylor knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Prince throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Taylor pushes Prince away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Prince gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Prince postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Taylor is pushing Prince's head away, looking to escape. Prince manages to hold on to the position though.

Prince tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
You can see the frustration on Taylor's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Taylor has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Prince finds it's way round the side to connect with Taylor's head.

Prince rushes Taylor and presses him up against the cage.

Prince tries to work over Taylor's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Taylor pulls Prince into guard.
Taylor looks winded!
Taylor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Prince is controlling him.
Prince postures up in Taylor's guard and throws a big left but Taylor blocks it.
Prince working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Taylor controlling the position.
Prince postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Prince is in close to Taylor's body, working some short punches and elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Graig Prince dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Prince slaps away a takedown attempt from Taylor, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mick Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Taylor has closed the distance and engaged Prince in a clinch.
Prince has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Taylor is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Taylor jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Prince walks away with a smile on his face. Taylor gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Prince tries to keep at a distance but Taylor has taken the fight into the clinch.

Taylor looks for a takedown but Prince sprawls well.
Graig Prince has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mick Taylor.

Prince takes a swing at Taylor's ribcage but misses.

Taylor closes the distance and clinches.
Prince keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Taylor's efforts to push away.
Prince is trying to push Taylor away but Taylor has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Taylor is trying to pull guard but Prince has him pressed against the cage.
Taylor is breathing heavily.

Taylor gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Prince wants to stand but Taylor is controlling the position.
Taylor loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Taylor prevents Prince from getting back to his feet.
Graig Prince overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Prince is trying to control the position but Taylor postures up.
Taylor is looking to stand up but Prince won't let him.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Prince wants to improve his position but instead Taylor has moved into half guard.
Taylor is looking to take a break and control but Prince is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Taylor is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Prince is just riding it out for now. Taylor eventually gives up the hold.

Prince manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Nice sprawl there from Taylor as Prince shoots in.

Taylor takes the fight into the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Taylor is looking to control Prince's arms but Prince gets an underhook and turns him. Now Taylor has his back to the cage.

Prince tries to land knees in the clinch but Taylor avoids the damage to the body.

Prince has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Taylor clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Prince scores with punches to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Prince cracks Taylor with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Taylor from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Graig Prince will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Taylor will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Prince feinted with a counter takedown.

Taylor gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Taylor goes for a takedown attempt but Prince pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Taylor on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Mick Taylor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Prince dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Prince tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Taylor just stands there and leans against the cage.
Taylor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Prince breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Taylor dives in and grabs Prince's left leg, looking for a takedown. Prince pushes down on Taylor's head and hops out.
Graig Prince has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mick Taylor.

Taylor moves into the clinch successfully.
Taylor throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Princes head.
Prince taking a breather.
Taylor tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Prince just stands there and leans against the cage.
Taylor swings wildly with an uppercut but Prince uses good head movement to avoid it.
Prince changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Taylor fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Taylor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Prince.

Taylor looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Prince!

Prince explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Prince swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Prince misses with a wild body shot.
Taylor misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Prince drops down looking for a counter takedown but Taylor sprawls and moves away.

Taylor moves into the clinch.
Prince has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Taylor avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Prince's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Taylor wants to break the clinch but can't.

Prince breaks from the clinch.
Prince throws a body shot but no joy.
Prince ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Taylor moves away.

Prince shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Taylor's guard.

Taylor working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Prince.

Prince in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Prince is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Prince makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Prince throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Taylor works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Prince postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Mick Taylor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Graig Prince is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Taylor has an active guard here but Prince has managed to pass into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Graig Prince showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Prince, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
