The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Hayes finds it's target.

Hayes gets a clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Shelton is trying to pull guard but Hayes has him pressed against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hayes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shelton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hayes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shelton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shelton won't allow Hayes to get back to his feet.

Shelton wants to stand but Hayes is controlling his posture from full guard.

Shelton throws an elbow that misses. Hayes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shelton's guard. Nice move by Hayes!

Shelton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Shelton has his feet on Hayes's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Hayes tries to keep at a distance but Shelton has taken the fight into the clinch.

Shelton has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Hayes is looking to clinch but Shelton is avoiding it.
Hayes misses with a wild body shot.
Hayes tries to clinch up.
Shelton stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hayes.
Shelton swats away the attempt to clinch by Hayes.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hayes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hayes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Hayes moves into the clinch.
Hayes misses with a punch on the inside.

Shelton blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hayes jumps guard but Shelton turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Shelton gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hayes regains guard.
Shelton lands a couple of decent looking shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tony Shelton will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hayes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hayes throws a leg kick which misses Shelton's front leg but catches the back leg as Shelton tries to avoid it.
Hayes throws a right and a left that Shelton avoids nicely.
Hayes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shelton swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hayes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hayes tries to clinch but Shelton moves out of range.
A left and a right from Hayes both land. Nice combination.
Shelton dives in and grabs Hayes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hayes pushes down on Shelton's head and hops out.
Shelton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hayes throws a head kick that Shelton semi-blocks.
Shelton seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Hayes shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Shelton is backing up but Hayes catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Shelton covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Hayes Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
