Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eldon Stanton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deontae Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon throws a sloppy head kick

and Stanton counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Stanton pulls guard effortlessly.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gordon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gordon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stanton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gordon has managed to get both his arms back between Stanton's legs - danger averted.

Stanton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You can see the frustration on Stanton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Stanton is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Stanton throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Gordon tries to stand but Stanton is controlling his head.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Stanton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gordon to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Gordon is standing up over Stanton. Stanton looks to escape but Gordon dives into side control.

Gordon wants to stand but Stanton is controlling his arm.
Stanton is not content to let Gordon control the position.

Gordon looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Stanton is looking to improve his position but Gordon isn't that keen on the idea.
Gordon avoids the attempt from Stanton to control.
Stanton tries to control Gordon's body but Gordon pushes him off. Stanton squirms to his side and now Gordon has his back!

Gordon is persistently looking for the submission but Stanton is defending it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stanton moves into the clinch successfully.
Gordon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Stanton tries to pull guard but Gordon holds him up against the cage and eventually Stanton drops back down to his feet.
Stanton manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Stanton has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gordon is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Stanton.
