The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hellsfyre shoots in but no luck this time.
Derks drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hellsfyre sprawls and moves away.

Derks tries to bench press Hellsfyre off him but Hellsfyre keeps the position.
Hellsfyre is looking to take a break and control but Derks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Derks's coaches at mickeyharts the greatest have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Derks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hellsfyre defends it easily.

Hellsfyre drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hellsfyre jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Derks throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hellsfyre.
Derks is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hellsfyre.
Damien Hellsfyre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Derks is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hellsfyre can do to turn this around?
Hellsfyre is trying hard to land a takedown here. Derks sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Derks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hellsfyre paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Derks leaves Hellsfyre with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Derks bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hellsfyre's head.

Derks comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Derks throws a looping overhand right but Hellsfyre ducks down to avoid it.

Nice straight punches there by Derks. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Derks.
Nice takedown defense from Derks. No joy for Hellsfyre on that attempt.

Derks seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Derks throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Derks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hellsfyre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Derks swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hellsfyre throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Derks trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Derks is looking to cinch up a triangle. Hellsfyre throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Derks's body to avoid the submission. Derks has instead reached around Hellsfyre's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Derks arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

A relieved looking Nate Derks thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
