The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Romero fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kidd to the ground. Romero is now in Kidd's guard.
Kidd might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Romero trying to control but Kidd is working from the bottom.
Romero working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Kidd is looking for a triangle but Romero pushes his legs off easily.
Kidd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Romero lands a couple of elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Romero trying to control but Kidd is working from the bottom.
Kidd looking for a sweep. Not yet Kidd, not yet.
Romero is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kidd has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Romero has passed into side control.
Kidd tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Romero wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Romero trying to control the position but Kidd is working away.
Romero lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kidd down.
Kidd is trying to improve his position.
Romero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kidd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kidd is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Romero's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Romero wants to stand up but Kidd has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Romero is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Kidd is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Romero looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Romero seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Romero dips to his left and cracks Kidd with an uppercut!
Kidd tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Romero swivels and escapes.
Nice sprawl there from Romero as Kidd shoots in.
Romero misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Romero has Kidd up against the cage in a clinch.

Romero's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Romero lands a nice shot that snaps Kidd's head back.
Romero avoids the body shot from Kidd.
Romero throws a series of strikes that have Kidd backpedaling.

Kidd is rocked!

It looks like Calvin Kidd has been cut.
Romero seems to be stalking Kidd here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastating head kick! Kidd drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!
