PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Billy Mundy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Steinsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steinsson has chosen Make Love as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steinsson avoids the head kick by Mundy.
Steinsson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mundy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Steinsson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mundy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The strikes coming from Steinsson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Steinsson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mundy keeps working.

Steinsson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Mundy's coaches at Killer Instinct ☠ have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Steinsson swings around for an armbar but Mundy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Steinsson's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Billy Mundy will probably get the nod.

Steinsson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mundy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Steinsson has managed to get both his arms back between Mundy's legs - danger averted.

Mundy fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Steinsson to the ground. Mundy is now in Steinsson's guard.

Mundy gets underhooks to prevent Steinsson's takedown attempt.
Mundy is pressed up against the cage. Steinsson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mundy down to the mat. Mundy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mundy lands with a kick to the temple. Steinsson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Mundy throws a head kick but Steinsson moves out of range.
No luck for Steinsson with that takedown attempt.
Mundy moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Mundy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Mundy gets caught napping as Steinsson dives in and scores a takedown. Mundy manages to retain guard.

Mundy has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Steinsson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Steinsson.
