PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tung Fo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adams has chosen Thom Pace - Maybe as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tung Fo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Adams!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Adams sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Adams fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fo manages to avoid it.
Adams cracks Fo with a good jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Adams lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Fo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Adams just stands there and leans against the cage.
Adams lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A head punch on the inside from Adams fails to land.
Adams slowing the pace effectively.
I was talking to Fo's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Fo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Adams smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tung Fo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Adams.
Adams has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Fo is landing a low percentage of strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fo slips a jab and a cross from Adams.

Fo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Adams was covering up waiting for the punch and Fo finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fo wants to pass the guard but Adams is keeping the position.

Fo has gone for a leg lock! Adams slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fo's guard.

Adams is trying to control. Fo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Adams looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Adams prevents Fo from improving his position.
Adams drops an elbow to the side of Fo's head.
Fo is not content to let Adams control the position.
Adams lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Fo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Adams pulls his head out easily.
Adams is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Fo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fo.
Adams is in close to Fo's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Adams landing some decent shots from guard.
Adams's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Fo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Adams wants to control from the top but Fo keeps moving.
Adams makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Adams stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Adams manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Fo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Adams has escaped the position, nice work there.
I wouldn't like to be where Adams is right now.

Fo is trying to get an arm triangle but Adams is defending well.

Fo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A close round but James Adams will probably get the nod.
That's time! Fo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Adams throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Fo has Adams up against the cage in a clinch.
Fo jumps guard but Adams stands there with Fo around his waist. Fo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Adams makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Fo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Fo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Fo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Adams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Adams got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Adams has managed to get both his arms back between Fo's legs - danger averted.

Fo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Adams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Adams is working Fo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Fo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Adams is one step ahead there.
Adams with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Adams lands a nice short elbow.
Adams is trying to control the action in half guard but Fo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Adams wants to free his trapped foot but Fo is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Adams is taking a breather. Fo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Adams is looking to take a break and control but Fo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Fo is trying to get back to full guard.
Adams tries to pass to full mount but Fo defends it.
Adams has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Adams pulls his head out easily.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

James Adams has got the better of the ground game so far.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Adams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Fo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Fo misses with a takedown attempt - Adams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Adams swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Fo clinches up with Adams and pushes him back against the cage.
Adams stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Fo drops down looking for an ankle pick but Adams pulls his leg out and moves away.

Adams cracks Fo with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Adams has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Fo to stand back up!


Fo is rocked!


It looks like Tung Fo has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fo gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Adams gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Fo is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Adams!
