PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Irvine Kinneas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralph Gardner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gardner is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Thug Luv. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Irvine Kinneas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Ralph Gardner!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gardner slips under a jab.
Gardner looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kinneas lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kinneas misses with a body kick.
Kinneas looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gardner misses with a double jab.
Gardner tries to bum rush Kinneas with a series of wild strikes but Kinneas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gardner takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Gardner! But no joy.
Kinneas loads up on a big right hand but Gardner slips the punch.
Kinneas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gardner takes a swing at Kinneas's ribcage but misses.
Gardner cracks Kinneas with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kinneas uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gardner.
Gardner connects with a body shot.
Kinneas throws a series of punches but Gardner avoids them all with ease.
Gardner misses with a combination
letting Kinneas counter with a right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crunch! Kinneas slams his shin into Gardner's torso.
Kinneas ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Gardner misses with a lunging right hand
and Kinneas counters with a straight right hand.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gardner crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kinneas - the referee stops the clock and Gardner gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kinneas. Gardner manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Kinneas scores with a kick to the midsection.
Gardner takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kinneas slips under a jab.
Kinneas comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Gardner scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kinneas doesn't seem bothered though.
A chopping leg kick lands by Kinneas.
A punch lands to the side of Gardner 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gardner throws a big shot that misses.
Gardner throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kinneas sees it coming and avoids it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gardner misses the body punch
and Kinneas counters with a nice uppercut.
Gardner moves out of range as Kinneas throws a body kick.
Kinneas misses with a right hand
and Gardner connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nice shot lands for Gardner.
Kinneas takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Kinneas closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Gardner! Kinneas dives in looking to finish! Gardner is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Irvine Kinneas!
Irvine Kinneas seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
