PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bernhard Adelhard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandr Nikitin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adelhard kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Godsmack - I Stand Alone. Nikitin has chosen Smack My Bitch Up as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 23 - 20 - 5, fighting out of Hilo, Alexandr Nikitin!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikitin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Adelhard at a distance.
Adelhard buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Adelhard shoots in but Nikitin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Adelhard lands a really nice looking cross but Nikitin seems unphased.
We've been hearing reports that Adelhard has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Nikitin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nikitin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Adelhard counters with a body kick that stops Nikitin in his tracks momentarily.
Nikitin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nikitin walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Nikitin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Adelhard's waist but Adelhard gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nikitin off to one side.

As Nikitin backs away, Adelhard returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Nikitin on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Nikitin takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Adelhard tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Nikitin is able to avoid easily.

Adelhard lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Nikitin or not.
Nikitin throws a head punch that misses.

Nikitin pushes Adelhard back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bernhard Adelhard will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Adelhard is looking to take a break and control but Nikitin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Nikitin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Adelhard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nikitin keeps working.
