Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between January Kwiecinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eirik Rivfader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). January Kwiecinski has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, January Kwiecinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eirik Rivfader!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kwiecinski thows a leg kick but Rivfader checks it
and Rivfader counters with a leg kick.
Rivfader staying out of range there.
Rivfader throws a body shot but no joy.
Kwiecinski throws a lazy right hand but Rivfader sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kwiecinski has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Zen Balance Monastery in the buildup to the fight.
Kwiecinski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rivfader circles away.
January Kwiecinski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rivfader closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kwiecinski to the mat! Kwiecinski manages to get full guard.
Rivfader seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
It looks like Rivfader might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rivfader working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kwiecinski's head.
Rivfader engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Kwiecinski seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Rivfader stands and steps away. Kwiecinski gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Rivfader looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kwiecinski is trying to get back to full guard.

Rivfader stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kwiecinski to get to his feet.

Rivfader closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rivfader perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kwiecinski wants to improve his position but Rivfader is controlling well.

Rivfader seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Rivfader is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kwiecinski defends it well.

Rivfader stands up from half guard.
The fighters circling - Kwiecinski throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kwiecinski is looking to clinch.

Kwiecinski closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Rivfader.

Rivfader lands a takedown into guard.
Rivfader's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rivfader wants to pass the guard but Kwiecinski is keeping the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rivfader's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Rivfader postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rivfader trying to control but Kwiecinski is working from the bottom.
Kwiecinski will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rivfader is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eirik Rivfader dominated that round.
That's time! Kwiecinski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Rivfader shoots in for a takedown but Kwiecinski shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kwiecinski throws a body punch but Rivfader moves out of range.

Rivfader clinches up with Kwiecinski and pushes him back against the cage.
Kwiecinski misses with a hook to the ribs.
Rivfader blocking some punches.

Rivfader jumps guard and drags Kwiecinski to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Rivfader is looking to cinch up a triangle. Kwiecinski throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rivfader's body to avoid the submission. Rivfader has instead reached around Kwiecinski's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rivfader arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Eirik Rivfader!
