PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Bartlett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Brewer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corey Brewer told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Aaron Bartlett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Corey Brewer!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewer goes for a double leg but Bartlett avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bartlett continues to drive forward.
Bartlett throws a big counter combination but Brewer scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Brewer.

Brewer closes the distance and clinches.
Bartlett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Brewer creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Bartlett's defenses.


It looks like Aaron Bartlett has been cut.

Brewer manages to break the clinch.

Brewer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brewer shoots for a double leg takedown but Bartlett sprawls well. He's pushed Brewer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bartlett is looking to counter with head kicks.
Aaron Bartlett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Corey Brewer.

It looked like Bartlett wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Brewer tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bartlett swivels and escapes.
Bartlett went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Brewer misses with a body kick.
Brewer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bartlett is fending him off so far but Brewer persists. Nope, Bartlett circles away and we're back to standing.
It looked like Bartlett was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bartlett looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Brewer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bartlett is trying to defend but Brewer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Brewer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bartlett keeps working.

Brewer pulls Bartlett in close to prevent any damage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Brewer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bartlett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Brewer moves into range and clinches up with Bartlett.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brewer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brewer wants it to stay on the feet.
Brewer shapes to counter with a head kick.

Brewer forces Bartlett back against the cage and clinches.
Brewer stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Brewer counters with a left and a right... And another left! Bartlett is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!
