Coming up we have a featherweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Cyric Saar and Guilherme Mendes. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Guilherme Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Daniel Cesar.


Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Mendes clinches up with Saar and pushes him back against the cage.
Saar stops a takedown attempt from Mendes.
Mendes tries to score a body lock takedown but Saar shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Mendes is working for takedown but Saar is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cyric Saar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Guilherme Mendes.
Saar gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mendes.
Mendes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Saar prevents it.
I was talking to Saar's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Mendes tries to bench press Saar off him but Saar keeps the position.
Saar works to advance to full mount. Mendes defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Saar is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mendes has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Saar moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mendes has worked his arm free - good work by Mendes!
Mendes manages to get back to half guard.
Mendes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Saar has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Saar wants to finish this one by submission but Mendes is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Saar.

Saar looking to secure an arm triangle but Mendes defends it well.
Mendes sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Mendes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Saar's guard.

My spies in Brazilian Elite Team inform me that Mendes has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Saar throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Mendes escapes and throws Saar's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saar is breathing heavily.
Mendes is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Saar's shoulder. That is not cool.
Let's hope that Mendes has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Mendes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

It looks like Mendes might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

You can see the frustration on Saar's face as Mendes controls the position.
Saar manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Mendes is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Saar is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mendes pulls his head out easily.

Mendes takes Saar's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Saar is in trouble.

Saar is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Mendes.
Mendes has the hooks in. Saar is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendes biding his time, looking for the opening.
Mendes is hanging on to Saar's back as he tries to escape.

Mendes working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Saar is doing well to defend. Mendes seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Saar is forced to tap and this one is over!
