Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Winters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zurab Basilashvili!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Basilashvili feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Winterss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Basilashvili swings for the body but Winters moves out of range.
Winters tries a head kick but it misses.
Basilashvili scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Winters doesn't seem bothered though.
Basilashvili throws a hook to the side of Winters's head but Winters sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Winters tries to close the distance and clinch but Basilashvili swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Basilashvili moves away from the strike by Winters.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Winters is defended easily by Basilashvili.
Basilashvili doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Winters shoots and misses
and Basilashvili counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Basilashvili throws a hook but Winters blocks it.
Winters throws a quick counter kick to the body but Basilashvili avoids it.
Winters has been working on his balance at KING OF PAIN, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Basilashvili.
Winters ducks under a wild hook from Basilashvili.
Winters half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Basilashvili scores with a punch to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Basilashvili lands a really nice looking cross but Winters seems unphased.
Basilashvili sizes up Winters with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Winters gets a takedown into half guard.

Winters is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Basilashvili is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Basilashvili is controlling Winters's position as best he can from this difficult position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Basilashvili is staying active underneath Winters, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Winters trying to control from Basilashvili's half guard. Basilashvili has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Basilashvili avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Winters slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Basilashvili keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Basilashvili cracks Winters with a right hand to the side of the head.
Basilashvili scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Winters tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Basilashvili defends well and Winters ends up having to push Basilashvili into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Winters. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Winters takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


Winters is rocked!
Winters gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Basilashvili points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Winters wakes up just in time to hear Basilashvili thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Zurab Basilashvili!
After winning the bout, Zurab Basilashvili thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
