Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Barrett Byers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Lindsey!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ben Watson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Byers. No joy for Lindsey on that attempt.

Byers looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Lindsey is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Byers prevents Lindsey from improving his position.
Byers missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Byers throwing shots but Lindsey is blocking nicely.

Byers is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Lindsey tries to roll over but Byers keeps him under control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Byers throws a big right hand that misses.

Lindsey has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Byers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Lindsey shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lindsey enables Byers to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lindsey manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Lindsey wants to get back to his feet but Byers is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Byers is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lindsey pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Byers has picked Lindsey up - he's going for a ride! Byers dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Lindsey has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Byers is on him like a limpet, forcing Lindsey back against the cage.
Byers is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lindsey gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Byers fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lindsey avoids it really well and circles away.

Lindsey looks to land a right hand but Byers moved out of range.
Lindsey dives in and grabs Byers's left leg, looking for a takedown. Byers pushes down on Lindsey's head and hops out.

A close round but Peter Lindsey will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Byers is looking to control Lindsey's arms but Lindsey gets an underhook and turns him. Now Byers has his back to the cage.
Lindsey is trying to drag Byers to the mat but Byers just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Peter Lindsey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Byers looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Byers tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lindsey smiles and moves away.

Byers misses with a punch to the body.

Byers ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Byers no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Byers tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Lindsey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lindsey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Lindsey stands and steps away. Byers gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Byers tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lindsey swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Byers is working Lindsey over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Peter Lindsey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lindsey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Byers swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Peter Lindsey is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

I would just about give that final round to Peter Lindsey.
I've got Lindsey winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
