Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aspen Springfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Winnie Pooh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Springfield might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Traditional Fools - Street Surfin'. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aspen Springfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Winnie Pooh!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pooh is looking to clinch but Springfield is avoiding it.
No luck for Pooh with that takedown attempt.
Springfield ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Pooh misses with a body shot.

and Pooh counters with a takedown into side control.

Pooh is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Springfield sees it coming and defends easily.

Pooh is looking for a kimura but Springfield is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pooh to get the leverage.

Pooh is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Springfield still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Springfield has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee asks Springfield politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Springfield prefers to stall for the moment though.
Pooh manages to work his way to half guard, despite Springfield's best efforts.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Pooh is staying active underneath Springfield, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That was a close round but I would say that Aspen Springfield will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Springfield throws the kick towards the body but Pooh avoids it.
Pooh tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Springfield manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Springfield seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Springfield sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pooh's guard.

Springfield uses his free foot to push down on Pooh's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pooh.

That was a close second round but I would say that Aspen Springfield will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Springfield has his foot on Pooh's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pooh works his way back into a safe position though.

Springfield working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pooh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pooh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well Springfield has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
