PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kalle Palikka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Cronos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cronos comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sandstorm kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kalle Palikka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Cronos!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters circling a little - Palikka finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Cronos bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Palikka's head backwards.
Palikka throws a body shot but no joy.
Cronos dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Palikka slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Cronos uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Palikka.
A combination from Cronos does no damage.
Palikka takes a jab right on the kisser.

Palikka decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cronos tries to roll over but Palikka keeps him under control.
Cronos has hold of Palikka's hands but Palikka slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Palikka lands a nice short elbow.

Palikka seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cronos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Cronos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Palikka lands strikes from half guard.
Palikka looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cronos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cronos can't escape the position.

Palikka lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cronos takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Palikka has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cronos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Cronos is rocked!
Palikka postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Cronos badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Palikka around the waist but Palikka pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Palikka is the winner by TKO! Palikka jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kalle Palikka!
Kalle Palikka spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
