Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Man Whitaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eustace Elpidius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elpidius has chosen Gladiator - Hans Zimmer as his entrance music. Man Whitaker has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Man Whitaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eustace Elpidius!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Elpidius gets caught napping as Whitaker dives in and scores a takedown. Elpidius manages to retain guard.
Elpidius trying to keep a closed guard but Whitaker is proving a slippery customer.
Elpidius is pulling down on Whitaker's head to control his posture.
Elpidius wants to sweep but no luck.
Whitaker is standing up over Elpidius. Elpidius looks to escape but Whitaker dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Elpidius tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Elpidius can't do much from the bottom here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Whitaker staying calm.
Elpidius is looking to reverse the position.
Elpidius takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Elpidius pushes Whitaker away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Whitaker gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Elpidius is trying to control Whitaker's posture but Whitaker avoids it.
Whitaker controls the position from side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Elpidius.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Whitaker sneaks back into half guard.
Elpidius lands strikes from half guard.
Whitaker keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Elpidius is trying to control the action in half guard but Whitaker is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Whitaker missing with punches from the bottom.
Elpidius is looking to advance position but Whitaker won't allow it.
Elpidius trying to control from Whitaker's half guard. Whitaker has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Whitaker doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Whitaker will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Elpidius trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Whitaker manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Elpidius wants to stand and escape but Whitaker is having none of it.
Whitaker is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Elpidius wants to improve his position but instead Whitaker has moved into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Man Whitaker dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Elpidius closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Whitaker gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Elpidius.

Whitaker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Elpidius moves in looking to clinch but Whitaker pushes him off.
Whitaker feinted with a counter takedown.
Whitaker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Elpidius circles away.
And Elpidius tries to counter it with a takedown but Whitaker pushes his down on his head and steps out.
No luck for Elpidius with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Elpidius looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Man Whitaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eustace Elpidius.

Whitaker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Elpidius manages to get himself to full guard.

Whitaker stands up from guard. Let's bang!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Elpidius closes the distance and pushes Whitaker back into the cage.
Elpidius is looking for a takedown.
Elpidius has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Whitaker is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Whitaker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Elpidius gets a takedown into half guard.
Eustace Elpidius has got the better of the ground game so far.
Whitaker is looking to control Elpidius's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Whitaker avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Elpidius missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Elpidius blocks the strikes from Whitaker.
Elpidius not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Elpidius is looking for a kimura but Whitaker is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Elpidius to get the leverage.
Elpidius is breathing heavily.

Whitaker has his hands clasped together around Elpidius's back. He's all about the action.
Elpidius is thwarting Whitaker's attempts to control the position.
Elpidius is trying to control. Whitaker wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Elpidius wants to pass to mount but Whitaker is defending the position.
Whitaker regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Elpidius.
Elpidius working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Whitaker thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Whitaker keeping full guard, as Elpidius tries to pass.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Whitaker leaves Elpidius with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Elpidius looks for a takedown but Whitaker sprawls well.
Elpidius closes the distance but Whitaker moves to the side

and Whitaker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Elpidius's guard.
Whitaker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Whitaker has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Elpidius is proving hard to escape from.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Whitaker controls from within his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Eustace Elpidius will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Whitaker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Whitaker tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Elpidius smiles and moves away.

Whitaker is striking off his back. Elpidius thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Whitaker keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Whitaker flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Elpidius is thwarting Whitaker's attempts to control the position.
Elpidius is just content to waste time from the top position. Whitaker takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Elpidius wants to control from the top but Whitaker keeps moving.
Whitaker throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Whitaker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Elpidius throws a strike but Whitaker rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Whitaker won't allow Elpidius to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Whitaker has gone for a leg lock! Elpidius slips out almost immediately though and dives into Whitaker's guard.

Elpidius looking to sit in guard and control but Whitaker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Elpidius has Whitaker pulled in close to control his posture.

Whitaker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eustace Elpidius comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Elpidius has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
