The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Rush.
Boyfriend misses with a double jab.
Rush drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Boyfriend defends it well.
Boyfriend throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rush misses with a hook to the body
and Rush takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Boyfriend dodges the punch combination from Rush.
Daniel Boyfriend seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boyfriend keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rush has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Boyfriend misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Boyfriend feints a jab promting Rush to slip. Boyfriend then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rush slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Boyfriend lands a left and a right that send Rush crashing to the mat, dazed. Boyfriend thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Boyfriend throws a series of punches but Rush avoids them all with ease.
Daniel Boyfriend is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boyfriend swings for the body but Rush moves out of range.
Rush is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Boyfriend throws a right and a left that Rush avoids nicely.

Rush connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Boyfriend's hands.

Oooooh!!! Boyfriend has knocked Rush down with a huge combo! Boyfriend steps away and waves a wobbly Rush back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Kevin Rush has been cut.
Boyfriend fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Rush square on the jaw! Damn, Rush is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

In his post fight interview, Daniel Boyfriend started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
