PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keenan Coffey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Fischer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keenan Coffey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Fischer!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fischer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Coffey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Coffey is defending against the submission attempts here by Fischer.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Coffey is trying to stand.
Fischer is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Coffey pushes Fischer off looking to stand but Fischer dives back in and keeps control.
Fischer is thwarting Coffey's attempts to control the position.

Fischer wants to work for an arm triangle but Coffey is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Coffey looks like he's trying to stand up.
Fischer tries to stand but can't do so whilst Coffey controls his leg.
Coffey moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fischer stands up over Coffey, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fischer shoots in and drives through. Coffey sprawls well.
Fischer avoids a punch combination nicely.
Fischer throws a series of punches but Coffey avoids them all with ease.
Coffey is looking to counter punch.

Fischer wanted to stand there but Coffey had control of the position.
Coffey seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Coffey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fischer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fischer postures up in Coffey's guard and throws a big left but Coffey blocks it.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Fischer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Fischer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bobby Fischer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fischer sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Coffey is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Fischer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Coffey wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Fischer tries to advance to mount but Coffey denies him.
Coffey tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Fischer wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Coffey is looking to regain half guard here but Fischer keeps moving and retains side control.
Coffey is letting Fischer control him for a moment.
You can see the frustration on Coffey's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Coffey tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Coffey tries to reverse the position but Fischer maintains control.
Fischer content just to control the position here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fischer is in the full mount, landing strikes.
The referee warns Coffey that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Fischer has control of Coffey's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Coffey regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Coffey is squirming around, avoiding Fischer's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Fischer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Fischer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Coffey's guard.

Coffey is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Fischer locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Coffey is forced to tap!
