PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Krystian Olafsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baltsaros Dellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Baltsaros Dellis!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olafsson misses with a combination

so Dellis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dellis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Olafsson is trying to keep Dellis in close.
Dellis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
It looks like Dellis might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Olafsson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dellis defends it easily.
Olafsson is trying to keep Dellis in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Olafsson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dellis controls the pace.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Dellis jabbing away but nothing is landing.
We've been told by Olafsson's head coaches at White's ELITE Fitness Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Some wild striking there from Olafsson.
Olafsson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dellis tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Dellis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Olafsson's half guard.
Dellis moves nicely into side control.

Olafsson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Dellis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The referee warns Olafsson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Dellis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Olafsson is bucking up trying to escape but Dellis cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Olafsson wants to hold on but Dellis pushes him away.
Dellis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The adventures of Dellis the control monster continue. Boring.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Baltsaros Dellis dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dellis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dellis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Olafsson was well out of range. Poor timing from Dellis.
Dellis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dellis in particular looking to stall.
Dellis has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Olafsson tries to reverse the position but Dellis maintains control.

Olafsson is desperately trying to improve his position but Dellis has a good base and remains in mount.

Dellis shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Olafsson napping and manages to drive through into side control!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Dellis.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Dellis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Dellis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Baltsaros Dellis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Dellis winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Baltsaros Dellis thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
The defeated Krystian Olafsson had this to say: 'Much respect to my opponent, he was the better man tonight, Next time I will remove his soul from his body'.
