The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baloni lands a big head kick that sends Ward tumbling to the mat! Baloni takes a step backwards and waves Ward back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Ward is rocked!

Eusebio Ward's cut is getting worse.

Baloni forces Ward back against the cage and clinches.
Oh Ward is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Baloni lands an elbow inside that Ward shrugs off.

Eusebio Ward's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Baloni has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ward uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ward has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Baloni is proving hard to escape from.

Ward avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ward wants to control from the top but Baloni keeps moving.

Baloni seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Baloni wants to stand but Ward is controlling the position.

Baloni scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Baloni dives in and scores a takedown into Ward's guard.

Let's hope that Baloni has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
