The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parrish goes for a double leg but Valentine avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Valentine continues to drive forward.
Valentine feints the counter takedown.

Parrish closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Valentine quickly recovers to half guard.

Valentine tries to roll over but Parrish keeps him under control.
Valentine is staying active underneath Parrish, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Parrish takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parrish seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Valentine does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Parrish perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Valentine is refusing to be controlled, as Parrish sits in half guard.
Valentine is looking for a sweep. Parrish is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Valentine scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Parrish manages to mount him!

Parrish is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Parrish dives in for a single leg takedown but Valentine sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Valentine shoots in and bounces Parrish off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Valentine passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

Valentine looking for a submission but Parrish manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Parrish could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Parrish wants to sweep here but Valentine controlling him for the moment.
Parrish is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Still in half guard, Parrish seems content to control.

Parrish maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Valentine could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Parrish has cracked it and Valentine is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Parrish!
