Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Flap Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miso Hornie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Flap Jack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Miso Hornie!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jack leaves Hornie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jack went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Hornie with a lazy takedown attempt
and Jack counters with a left and a right that stings Hornie.

Jack closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hornie's guard.

Hornie has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hornie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Jack sitting in guard here, content to control.
Hornie wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Jack stops Hornie from standing up.
Jack controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jack knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hornie on the ground.
Jack cracks Hornie with a solid left hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hornie wants to sweep but no luck.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jack's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hornie controls Jack momentarily but Jack frees himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
A swing and a miss from Hornie.
Jack appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Hornie shoots for a double leg takedown but Jack sprawls well. He's pushed Hornie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Flap Jack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miso Hornie.

Jack shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hornie's guard.
Hornie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jack controls the pace.
Jack seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hornie for as long as he can get away with.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jack is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jack won't allow Hornie to get back to his feet.

Hornie is trying to control the position but Jack postures up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Hornie looks winded!
Jack is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jack throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hornie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jack is in Hornie's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hornie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jack defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Flap Jack dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Jack shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jack was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hornie sneaks back into half guard.
Hornie is trying to maintain the position but Jack is very close to passing his half guard.
Flap Jack overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jack looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Hornie is trying to stand back up but Jack is controlling him
Hornie wants to get back to full guard.
Hornie trying to control but Jack postures up.
Hornie tries to roll over but Jack keeps him under control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Jack has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jack is defended easily by Hornie.
Hornie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jack counters by clinching up.
Hornie is breathing heavily.

Jack drags the fight down to the ground.
Hornie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jack is keeping the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jack seems keen to control Hornie's posture.
Jack's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Jack continues to stall.
Hornie preventing the sweep.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hornie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jack tries to avoid it but Hornie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jack to the ground. Jack escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
As Hornie looks to move away, Jack throws a big counter combo but Hornie just gets out of the way.
Flap Jack is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hornie misses with an uppercut. Jack saw that one coming.
Miso Hornie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jack scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Jack controlling the position.
You can see the frustration on Hornie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Flap Jack dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Hornie is looking to regain half guard here but Jack keeps moving and retains side control.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Jack.
Jack works to advance to full mount. Hornie defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Hornie is trying desperately to improve position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A nice elbow there by Jack.
Hornie regains half guard.
Jack stalling.

Hornie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jack is looking to advance position but Hornie won't allow it.
Hornie is in trouble now - Jack has advanced to mount!
Hornie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Hornie keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jack controlling the pace for now.
Jack continues to hold on tight.
Hornie bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Jack is pulling down on Hornie's head. It's preventing any offense from Hornie, at least for the moment.
Flap Jack is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hornie won't allow Jack to sweep him here.
Jack is pulling down on Hornie's head to control his posture.
Jack wants to stand up but Hornie is controlling him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hornie throws a big right hand that misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Flap Jack showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jack has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
